Thanks to a very generous co-worker, I have 2 100-level tickets to the Mariners game tomorrow night. I tried to ask this girl who works at a coffee shop by my apartment to go (aw yeah!) but got shut down before I even got that far (fuck!). So anyway, I have one good ticket to the game available (section 109). I'm not a baseball fan, nor do I know much about the sport (if the short-stop goes outside the baselines, he is offsides? I can never remember), but I'm going anyway on the theory that sometimes it's cool to have a really good view of something that you're apathetic towards. Anyone in the Seattle-area interested?

I believe they're playing the Lakers.

Apparently this is real.

I'm dumbfounded.

One of those adjectives is false. Hopefully the other two excuse the quality.

Tonight I went for a walk and walked past two little girls hammering on pieces of wood in a driveway.

"Wooden people first!" shouted one.

"It's a philosopheeeeeee!" cried the other.

Hey [info]vampireelf, you're famous! If being in a few pictures posted on the blog of a moderately (though increasingly) successful fantasy writer counts as fame, that is. Also, he totally name checks you, sort of.

On my way home today a guy standing in a bus shelter asked me, "Do you have a dime?"

"Sure," I said, and proceeded to root around in my wallet for one. I found it and deposited it in his hand.

"No," he said, "do you have the time? But the dime works too." He put it in his wallet. I gave him the time and walked on.

And that's the story of how I gave away a dime for no reason.

It's an epic

I don't need to bother reading the Harry Potter books because nothing in them could possibly rival the the shit that goes down in fandom.

I spaced out and actually replied to Marc's meme, and the rules dictate that I must now post it here.

Anyway, describe me using only one word if you feel the urge.

Lewis Black:

I mean, writing isn't fun. It's never been fun. It's momentum, and once you get the momentum going, that's great, but it's a brutal experience in many, many ways. And when you're done, people tell you "Well, gee, I'm not interested." "Great, I'm glad I sat down and wrote this!"

I couldn't agree more.

"The specter of necessity"?

I hate myself so much right now.

I tried to write my paper earlier, and I was so sleepy I almost fell asleep in my chair. So then I drank a Starbucks Doubleshot and suddenly couldn't sit still long enough to compose a sentence. I went for a walk instead, which was nice. The weather's finally bearable; the sun's out and the humidity dropped to the point where you can walk more than a block without drenching yourself in sweat.

However--I'm still sitting at 1300 of 4500 words on a paper for which I haven't even done enough reading, and now I'm an hour more screwed than I was when I set out on that walk.

I'm just glad this weekend's going to kick so very much ass.

Aw, fuck:

I regret to inform you that due to circumstances beyond our control, we have had to cancel the summer ENG 418 (31416) you are enrolled in. I apologize for any inconvenience this may cause you. If you were taking this course as a requirement to fulfill your major, please contact Dr. Marc Geisler, Marc.Geisler@wwu.edu, for advisement as soon as possible. As the new Chair of the English department, Dr. Geisler will be advising this summer and can approve requirement substitution arrangements.

If you plan to graduate summer quarter and need 418 to fulfill your major, you may take ENG 423 or 408 instead. Dr. Geisler said either one would be acceptable.

Maybe I can take a CS class instead.

Wow, I never thought this stuff would surface--Joe unearthed rare footage from the good ol' high school AV geek days.

A few points:

1. It's really sad that the rest of the movie and its soundtrack didn't survive.

2. But I'm actually glad my bits didn't survive.

3. Wow, I couldn't zoom for shit.

4. My apparent inability to operate a camera is actually an example of my groundbreaking cinéma vérité style, which I should note predates both Firefly and Battlestar Galactica, and which I invented all by myself.
